Saudi Arabia: Mobile charger explodes, 7 family members die

Qaiser Manzoor Chaudhry Daily Dawn + Dawn TV Report

Al-Ahsa: A mobile charger exploded in a house in the city of Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, killing 7 members of the same family.

According to a Dawn TV report, this incident occurred in the oasis city of Saudi Arabia when all the family members were awake at night and the mobile charger was plugged into an electrical socket. Due to heat, the charger exploded and caught fire, which immediately spread throughout the house. By the time the family members woke up, the fire had spread considerably.

The head of the family and his wife tried to extinguish the fire, but both were injured, while the children sleeping in the rooms suffocated and died due to smoke.

When the Civil Defense Department was informed, several teams immediately reached the spot, but by that time 7 people had died of suffocation.

The Saudi Civil Defense has said that in the event of a fire in any house, instead of being busy extinguishing it, the people present should be concerned about saving the people there and the house should be evacuated immediately.

The department has said that smoke in a fire acts as a poison, and most deaths occur due to smoke entering the internal organs of the body through inhalation.
