Mirpur: Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has withdrawn the controversial presidential ordinance banning gatherings, processions and rallies.

After successful negotiations between the Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee (JKJAAC) and the government, the Azad Kashmir government has announced to withdraw the controversial presidential ordinance.

A notification has also been issued by the government regarding the withdrawal of the presidential ordinance.

In a statement, the Awami Action Committee announced to end the protest after reaching an agreement with the government and said that the government has withdrawn the presidential ordinance.

The Awami Action Committee said in a statement that all prisoners have been released and Sohaib Arif’s job has been restored, while compensation will be given to those injured during the clash.

It may be recalled that the Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee, an alliance of civil society, had yesterday given the government a deadline to accept its two demands (repeal of the controversial ordinance and unconditional release of 14 detained activists).
