London: British Dawn TV and The Guardian newspaper have admitted that the Hurriyat militants have bitten the noses of Indian soldiers.
World-renowned journalist Alice Patterson wrote in her column in the Guardian that the Hurriyat militants are more determined than ever, while the morale of the Indian security forces is at an all-time low.
The article states that the Kashmiri Mujahideen are using modern weapons. Indian forces have been surprised by the guerilla warfare tactics of the Kashmiri Mujahideen, in which the militants target their targets with precision and disappear into the rugged mountainous terrain.
The article states that the Kashmiri Mujahideen are now highly trained and use drones inside the valley to deliver munitions. Mujahideen also filmed ambushes of Indian soldiers using body cameras.
The column also states that Indian military officials admit to difficulty gathering intelligence about these militants, which makes tracking them difficult.
According to the British journalist, ambushes are taking place in new areas, such as the Hindu-majority Jammu province, where earlier attacks were rare. Militants have adopted new tactics of attacking soldiers, disappearing, and then re-emerging to attack elsewhere.
The Guardian’s column also states that the desperate efforts of Indian security forces to contain the separatist struggle belie the Delhi government’s claims that after the abrogation of Kashmir’s special status, there will be no peace in the region. Life is back to normal.
