Islamabad: According to Dawn TV, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court to declare the proposed constitutional amendment null and void.

The petition was filed by Abid Zuberi, Shafqat Mehmood, Shahab Sarki, Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, Munir Kakar, and others. The Federation, four provinces, the National Assembly, the Senate and others have been made parties in the petition.

He took the position that the Parliament cannot take back the power of the judiciary or tamper with the judicial powers, the proposed constitutional amendment will transfer the powers of the Supreme Court and the High Court to the executive, the constitutional amendment will destroy the independent judiciary, the constitutional The amendment was made in secret which shows malice, more than 40 amendments are proposed to the constitution.

He said that these amendments are being brought at a time when the Parliament is not yet complete, the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the Sunni Ittehad Council has not yet been implemented, and the elected representatives of the Sunni Ittehad Council have been deprived of their right to representation. has gone, members of the National Assembly have been abducted, attempts have been made to switch loyalties, and the proposed constitutional amendments are contrary to the objectives of the resolution, and the scheme of the constitution.

The petitioners demanded that the proposed constitutional amendment be declared unconstitutional, and that the proposed constitutional amendment be declared against the separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary.

He further said that the federal government should be stopped from amending the constitution and the process of presenting the proposed constitutional amendment bill should also be stopped.

According to the appeal, if the Parliament amends the constitution, the President should be prevented from signing it and the independence, powers, and judicial affairs of the judiciary should be declared sacred.
