Islamabad: The District and Sessions Court has rejected the request to register a case against the leadership of the Muslim League (N) in the Arshad Sharif murder case.
Petitioner Shakir Ali had filed a registration case application against Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and others.
Additional Sessions Judge Rana Mujahid Rahim issued a written decision rejecting the leadership of the Muslim League (N) in the registration case of the Arshad Sharif murder case.
The verdict said that the murder case of journalist Arshad Sharif is pending in the Supreme Court and Arshad Sharif’s family is following the case in the Supreme Court.
The court said that the petitioner does not have the authority to set aside the case of the family and file a new case and the newspaper clippings and letters do not prove the involvement of the League leadership in Arshad Sharif’s murder.
The judgment said that if the petitioner is an eyewitness, he can be included in the JIT investigation, but the petitioner failed to connect the League leadership with Arshad Sharif’s murder.
The court said in the judgment that the petitioner does not have the power to nominate the accused of his own choice, so the petition for registering a case against the League leaders is rejected.
