Islamabad/Lahore/Gujranwala: Before the meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Islamabad, internet services were slow or completely stopped in various parts of the country including Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Citizens are facing difficulties in using social media apps, especially WhatsApp.
Dawn Efforts were made to get the stance of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of Interior regarding the internet shutdown and slowdown, but neither department responded.
The leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has termed the internet shutdown or slowdown as a government move to affect the rally in Islamabad.
Before the PTI rally in Islamabad, no statement was issued by the Interior Ministry or the PTA regarding the downing of internet services, however, internet services started slowing down or shutting down in the twin cities from 10 am onwards. Social media apps are also not fully functional.
