Lahore: The future of the national team’s white-ball captain Babar Azam’s leadership has also become uncertain.
The Pakistan star batsman’s future as captain is in jeopardy after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided not to appoint him as the captain for the upcoming Champions ODI Cup.
Sources have revealed to Dawn TV that Pakistan may appoint a new white-ball captain for the upcoming tour of Australia, speculations have surfaced that the current vice-captain Muhammad Rizwan is likely to be named the new captain.
Whiteball head coach Gary Kirsten reportedly discussed the captaincy issue with Babar Azam at the start of this year and after the T20 World Cup.
Sources say that if Rizwan is nominated as the captain, then he can be entrusted with the captaincy in all three formats of the game.
