Sahiwal: It turned out to be an important day in Teaching Hospital Sahiwal. The sight was restored to 2 deserving blind patients in the Department of Ophthalmology Unit 2. Blind patients who were unable to see due to corneal disorders restored their sight through corneal transplants. On this occasion, Head of Ophthalmology Unit 2 Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Rizwan told Dawn TV that the Department of Ophthalmology is officially approved by the Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority for cornea transplant. Today, 2 deserving patients have been provided this facility free of cost, which is usually an operation worth 10 to 15 lakh rupees. Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Rizwan specially congratulated Syed Iqbal Hussain (deceased) and his wife Mrs. Arjamand. He thanked Shah, whose efforts and full support enabled the donated corneas from America to reach Sahiwal on time and safely and make these operations possible. Talking to Dawn TV, Dr. Rizwan said that this is no less than a blessing for Sahiwal and its suburbs. Thanks to this facility, those people who have lost hope about their vision can also regain their vision. Dr. Rizwan said that so far a total of 30 patients have benefited from this facility and reiterated his commitment that this process of public service will be continued with full vigor and these operations will be done regularly so that More and more suffering humanity can benefit from it. Dr. Rizwan also thanked Dr. Umar Ajmal, and Dr. Shahid, Head of the Anesthesia Department for assisting in the operation.
