Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari awarded Hilal Imtiaz to Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem in recognition of his outstanding performance in sports. He announced a reward of Rs 10 crore to Arshad Nadeem.
The President appreciated Arshad Nadeem’s outstanding achievement, continuous hard work, and dedication. He also inspired the young players. Pakistan needs to promote other sports, especially singles. Children of athletes should be given scholarships. I will ask the Sindh government to contribute 250 million rupees to the Pakistan Sports Board endowment fund for the players’ welfare.
Arshad Nadeem thanked the President for giving the Hilal-e-Imtiaz award.
The President also appreciated the services of coach Salman Iqbal Butt for guiding Arshad.
