UK: Proposal to add kneading dough, ice cream eating activity to school curriculum

London: There is a demand to include activities like eating ice cream and kneading dough in the syllabus in British schools.

Four leading science organizations have called on the British government to include digging, visiting gardens, recycling, eating ice cream, kneading dough, and playing musical instruments in the curriculum for children aged 3 to 11. Also, include a series of “basic experiments”.

The Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Physics, the Royal Society of Biology, and the Association for Science Education published recommendations for reforming the primary school curriculum in an attempt to reduce inequalities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education. are

The report said that children with limited experience are undoubtedly at a disadvantage, so it is fundamentally unfair, and these new activities in the curriculum will address this problem by providing children with rich, essential experiences, particularly in the early years of primary school. This will help to resolve this to some extent.

Concrete experiences form the basis from which children can draw upon their imaginations and prepare them for more abstract learning in secondary school.
