New Delhi: In India, Sadhu Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj said blasphemous words in honor of the Prophet of Islam, which caused a wave of grief among Muslims and protested strongly.
The incident took place in Pancholi village of Nashik district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, after which riots broke out and police were deployed at various places.
Muslim leaders tried to file a case against Sadhu, but the police refused to file an FIR, which enraged the protesters and raised slogans against the police.
The police of the so-called secular state instead of realizing the sentiments of the Muslims and treating them with respect, started arresting the protesting Muslims. About 150 people were booked while 20 were detained.
On which the angry crowd stormed the police station, some officers were injured whose condition is said to be out of danger while 4 of the injured protesters were in critical condition.
In retaliation, the police raided the house of former Congress vice-president and Muslim leader Haji Shiraz Ali in Chhatarpur and demolished his house as an illegal construction.
This partiality of the police led to outrage among the Muslims and once again a large number of protesters gathered at the police station, forcing the police to register a case against Sadhu Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj.
So far, police fugitive Sadhu Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj could not be arrested. Muslim leaders have alleged that it was the police who shifted Sadhu to a safe place.
