Islamabad: Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Pakistan’s designated ambassador to America, is likely to reach Washington this week.
The ambassador change in Washington was long overdue, with former ambassador Masood Khan already given a three-month extension after his contract expired in March, which expired at the end of June.
Others who were reportedly considered for appointment in Washington DC include High Commissioner to Australia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry, US, UN, and UK-based Dr Maleeha Lodhi.
Rizwan Saeed Sheikh is also expected to focus on issues related to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s influence in the US, particularly in Congress, which recently passed a resolution in favor of the party’s demands.
