Islamabad: On the request for the recovery of the former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Muhammad Akram, the court summoned him in a personal capacity, expressing dissatisfaction with the report of the Superintendent of Adiala Jail.

In the Rawalpindi Bench of Lahore High Court, a hearing was held on the petition of the wife of ex-Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Muhammad Akram, for recovery. In the court of Justice Raza Qureshi, the petitioner Maimona Riaz appeared along with her lawyer Iman Mazari. The court summoned the Superintendent Adiala Jail in his capacity while expressing dissatisfaction over the report.

The court directed the petitioner to submit a formal application for registration of FIR at Sadar Baruni police station.

The court adjourned the hearing till August 21, directing the Intelligence Bureau and CPO Rawalpindi to submit their affidavits in the next hearing.

The petitioner’s lawyer had told at the last hearing that since August 14, nothing has been known about Akram, the police station president requested the Baruni police to register the case, but the FIR has not been filed yet.

It may be recalled that on August 14, sensitive agencies allegedly detained former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail Muhammad Akram for alleged facilitation and abuse of authority for the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan.

The deputy superintendent is accused of allegedly secretly messaging, facilitating, and abusing the powers of the founding PTI.

It may be recalled that former Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram was in charge of the High Security Zone in Adiala Jail and he was removed from the post on June 20. In place of Muhammad Akram, Tahir Siddique Shah was appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail.
