London: Mark Smith, a British diplomat’s second secretary at the British Embassy in Ireland, has resigned from his post in protest against arms sales to Israel.

British diplomat Mark Smith wrote in his resignation letter that “it is sad to resign after a long career in the diplomatic service but I cannot continue in my job knowing that my Foreign Office is involved in war crimes.”

Mark Smith added that there are clear and undeniable violations of international humanitarian law and war crimes committed by the Israeli government and military in Gaza daily.

The British diplomat said that these are examples of genocide. Israeli soldiers intentionally made videos of burning bodies. Destroyed citizens’ property, looted and ill-treated prisoners.

It should be noted that Smith Mark has also been overseeing the review of arms export licenses.
