LONDON: 75% of Muslims in the UK have said they are scared and feel unsafe here since the recent ethnic riots.
A survey by the Muslim Women’s Network has found three-quarters of Muslims in the UK are concerned about their safety following far-right riots across the country.
16 percent of Muslims surveyed said they felt that way even before the recent spate of violence.
20 percent said they had experienced a violent situation even before the riots that began in Southport on July 30.
75% of Muslims who took part in the survey said that after the recent riots, they felt unsafe in the UK and their families and were worried about the safety of their lives and property.
It should be noted that the Muslim mayor of London, Sadiq Khan of Pakistani origin, has also said that despite being the mayor, he is worried about his safety and that of his daughters. He also expressed his concern over the growing race riots and hatred in Britain.
It should be remembered that the recent race riots in the UK started after a knife attack in a night club in which 3 young girls were killed and many others were injured.
Misinformation spread on social media linked the attack to a Muslim refugee, after which mosques were targeted at multiple locations, and harassment of Muslims continued.
