Islamabad: A senior officer of the Senate Secretariat took political asylum in Europe along with his family on the letter of the Foreign Office.
According to the letter, Haider Ali Sundarani, Joint Secretary of the Senate Secretariat, was nominated to attend the 148th Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly to be held in Geneva, Switzerland from March 23 to 27, 2024.
The Joint Secretary through a formal request obtained a note and letter of introduction from the Senate Secretariat not only for himself but also for his family.
It was revealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that his family members went to Europe and applied for political asylum in one of the Western European countries and did not return. This act on the part of Haider Ali not only caused national embarrassment but also added to the difficulties already faced by other legal applicants.
