Dhaka: Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 8 other key members of her government will be tried by the investigative agency of the International Crimes Tribunal between July 15 and August 5 this year for crimes against humanity and genocide.
The request for trial at the International Criminal Tribunal was submitted today by Supreme Court lawyer Ghazi MH Tanim on behalf of the father of student Saim Ahmed.
The petitioner’s son Saim Ahmad was shot by the police during a protest against Hasina Wajid on August 5 and the student died of his injuries 2 days later.
In addition to Sheikh Hasina Wajid, former ministers Obaidul Qadir and Asaduz Zaman Khan Kamal, former ministers of state Junaid Ahmed Palak and Muhammad Ali Arafat, former Inspector General of Police Chaudhry Abdullah Al Mamoon, former DB chief Haroon Rasheed; Former DMP Commissioner Habib-ur-Rehman and former Director General Rab Haroon-ul-Rashid have been nominated.
