Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court accepted the bail application of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) International Media Coordinator Ahmed Waqas Janjua in the arms smuggling case after his arrest.
The case was heard by a division bench comprising Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Babar Sattar of the Islamabad High Court.
Ahmed Waqas Janjua’s wife appeared in the court along with his lawyer, Ahmed Waqas’ lawyer informed the court that Ahmed Waqas was picked up from the house and a case was registered for the recovery of Kalashnikov.
He said that when the case related to the disappearance was made in the court, it was known about the case.
Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb inquired whether Ahmed Waqas is related to the media. the lawyer informed that Ahmed Waqas is not related to the media but he is the International Coordinator of PTI.
On the inquiry of the court, the public prosecutor informed that 300 grams of gunpowder and Kalashnikov are to be recovered from Ahmed Waqas.
The public prosecutor requested that Ahmed Waqas’s bail application be rejected.
The court rejected the request of the public prosecutor and accepted the bail application of Ahmed Waqas Janjua after his arrest.
