LONDON: Britain recorded its hottest day of the year on Monday as temperatures soared to 34.8C and heat-stricken citizens flocked to beaches, water parks, and swimming pools in large numbers.
The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning and predicted that the weather will remain hot in many parts of the country, including London, for the next few days.
In the statement, the citizens have been instructed not to step out of their homes unnecessarily and to keep a bottle of water with them to avoid dehydration. Wear light clothing and cover your head with an umbrella or hat.
The weather in the UK is generally cold. Citizens are not used to such heat but global warming has changed the weather. Last year there were 47 thousand deaths from heat in Europe.
Unpredictable, unseasonal, and more than likely rainfall and glacier melting are causing climate variability due to global warming. Both cold and heat have increased in intensity.
