Javelin Throw Final: Arshad Nadeem made the biggest throw in Olympic history

Pakistani Olympian Arshad Nadeem entered the field in the javelin throw event at the Paris Olympics.

Arshad Nadeem set a record in the history of the Olympics by throwing 92.97 meters. Defending champion India’s Neeraj Chopra is second with a throw of 89.45 meters.

After 32 years, Pakistan’s hopes of winning an Olympic gold medal have been revived, the last time Pakistan won a bronze medal in hockey was at the 1992 Olympics.

Arshad Nadeem failed to throw in his first round but in the second round Arshad Nadeem threw 92.97 meters which is the biggest throw in the history of the Olympics till now, in the third round Arshad Nadeem threw 88.72 meters.

Arshad Nadeem threw 79.40 meters in the fourth round.

Earlier, the record for the longest throw in the Olympics was held by Andreas Thorkeldsen of Norway who threw 90.57 meters in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Arshad Nadeem has broken this record after 16 years.

12 athletes including India’s defending champion Neeraj Chopra are lined up for the final of the event.

Neeraj Chopra made it to the final with a throw of 89.34 meters while Arshad Nadeem finished fourth with 86.59 meters, the qualification criteria for the final was 84 meters or the first 12 athletes with the best throws.
