Bangladesh: Muhammad Yunus sworn in as interim government chief

DHAKA: Bangladesh’s Nobel laureate economist Mohammad Yunus took oath as the head of the country’s caretaker government after arriving in Dhaka on Thursday.

Muhammad Yunus will serve as the Chief Advisor in the Caretaker Government and it will also be the responsibility of this Government to hold general elections in the country.

Mohammad Younis, 84, was nominated by student protesters for the role for which he returned to Dhaka from Paris on Thursday.

On returning home, he paid tribute to the people killed in the recent violent protests and said that due to their sacrifices, the nation got freedom for the second time.
