Dhaka: Intelligence chief Major General Ziaul Hasan, who was removed from his post in Bangladesh yesterday, was arrested and taken off the plane and transferred to Dhaka Cantonment.
According to Bangladeshi media, the Emirates plane, ready for take-off on the runway of Dhaka Airport, was brought back from the runway to the boarding bridge and searched.
One passenger was detained from the plane and the plane was allowed to leave. Local media have claimed that the arrested person is Major General Ziaul Hasan who was the intelligence chief.
Major General Zia-ul-Hassan was dismissed from his post yesterday. He is considered to be a close associate of the resigned Prime Minister Hasina Wajid.
Major General Ziaul Hasan has been serving as the Director General of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center since 2022. Before that, he was the director of this company.
