Dhaka: Even after the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid and her escape to India, the situation in Bangladesh is still alarming and at the same time, protesters allegedly set fire to the house of former cricket captain Mashrafe Murtaza.
Former Bangladeshi captain Mashrafe bin Murtaza is a Member of Parliament from Constituency Narail 2 of Khulna Division. He won this seat for the second time in a row as the candidate of Hasina Wajid’s Awami League during the general elections held in Bangladesh in January this year.
According to the local media report of Bangladesh, after Sheikh Hasina Wajid left the country, the protesters ransacked Mashrafe bin Murtaza’s house and set it on fire, but Mashrafe Murtaza had moved to a safe place before the fire.
Mashrafe bin Murtaza led the team in the most 117 matches for his country across all formats. During his long career, he took 390 wickets in 36 Tests, 220 ODIs and 54 T20I matches and also scored 2,955 runs.
After quitting cricket, Mashrafe joined Murtaza Hasina Wajid-led Awami League and entered politics in 2018 and was elected Member of Parliament from Narail 2 constituency.
