Dhaka: After the overthrow of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid as a result of the student movement in Bangladesh, the roundup of former ministers and officers began.
Minister of State for Communications, Telecommunication, and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak and former Foreign Minister Mohsin Mehmood of the recently defunct Awami League government were detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday.
According to airport staff and media reports, Junaid Ahmed Palak and Hasan Mehmood were trying to escape to New Delhi, India, but both were detained by airport staff and workers and handed over to security forces.
Sheikh Hasina Wajid herself fled to India after resigning, after which many ministers and senior Awami League leaders have been reported to have fled abroad.
