DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid resigned following public protests in Bangladesh, after which statues of her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were toppled and pictures painted with chalk.

In videos that have gone viral on social media, the angry crowd can be seen climbing on the statue of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and smashing it with hammers.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s statues and tall pictures are also installed at many places in the capital city of Dhaka. Protesters toppled the statues and daubed the pictures.

In a video that has gone viral, the youth can be heard saying, “Hit the shoes on the picture.”
