New Gwadar International Airport is likely to be made operational from August 14, Dawn has learned

Quetta: Dawn Media has learned that the New Gwadar International Airport is likely to be made operational from August 14, for which preparations have been completed.

The soft launch of the airport will probably be done by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

A special PIA flight from Karachi will land at Gwadar International Airport as the first flight. According to a conservative estimate, New Gwadar International Airport has cost Rs 54 billion 98 crore.

The runways of Gwadar International Airport have been built according to international standards, on which other large aircraft including Airbus 380 can land.

Gwadar International Airport is a major project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The airport has been constructed by the Civil Aviation Authority in collaboration with China.
