London: Violent protests against the killing of three young girls in Britain have spread to many cities, resulting in injuries to police officers and property damage.
According to the British news agency Reuters, this is the first time in 13 years that Britain has been hit by widespread violent protests.
It should be noted that three young girls died in a knife attack in the coastal city of Southport on Monday, while five children were seriously injured. A 17-year-old boy has been charged with a knife attack during a dance class.
Violent protests broke out in various parts of the UK, including Liverpool, Bristol, Hull and Belfast. Anti-immigration protesters and anti-apartheid protesters came together and threw bricks and bottles at each other.
Many police officers were injured while trying to stop the clash.
Two officers in Liverpool were taken to hospital with facial injuries while another officer was knocked off his bike, according to the north-west city’s watchdog force.
At least two shops in Liverpool were vandalized and looted, police added.
