ISLAMABAD: Dawn has unearthed important statistics regarding the various political parties ruling the country, revealing which government took the most loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Go and which party paid back the most debt and who paid the highest interest.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is the top among the Pakistani governments receiving loans from the IMF with a loan of more than 7 billion 725 million dollars.
Pakistan Muslim League (N) is second in the list of IMF borrowers with a total of $6.48 billion, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is the largest borrower in a short period. It is third in the list with a difference of 480 million dollars with 6 billion dollars in debt.
In the list of governments that have returned the most loans to the IMF, the Muslim League (N) is in first place with five billion 92 million dollars.
PTI has paid the highest interest of 791.1 million dollars to the IMF in its single term of government and is number one in this list.
