PARIS: The three players who represented Pakistan in the Paris Olympics were out of the event.
Female shooter Kushmala Talat was limited to the qualification round of women’s 25m women’s air pistol event, 22-year-old Kushmala Talat was involved in relay two while 40 shooters participated in the preliminary round, Kushmala could not be among the 8 shooters who made it to the finals. Earlier, Kushmala Talat failed in the qualification round of the 10m air pistol women and mixed team event.
Another Pakistani national women’s champion, 25-year-old Faiqa Riaz, was eliminated from the Games after finishing sixth in the heats of the women’s 100m race among nine athletes.
The third Pakistani woman, Perak Jahanara, failed miserably in the 200-meter freestyle. National parakeet Muhammad Ahmed Durrani and Olympian shooter Gulfam Joseph were already out of the Games.
Thus, among the 7 athletes, only shooter Olympian GM Bashir and Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem are the center of Pakistan’s hopes. Javelin will be held in the round, in case of success in this round they will be eligible to participate in the final round on August 8.
