Lahore/Islamabad: The 44-year record of heavy rain in Lahore was broken. The low-lying areas were flooded, rain emergency was imposed in Lahore due to torrential rain. The heavy spell of monsoon rain is ongoing in Lahore, the capital of Punjab. Mall Road, Ferozepur Road, Model Town, Faisal Town, Lakshmi Chowk, and Anarkali among other areas received heavy rain.
Several feeders tripped in many places including Gujarat, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, and other cities of Punjab, where the citizens are facing severe problems due to the power supply being affected. The Meteorological Department has predicted that monsoon rains will continue till August 6. The heavy rain in the provincial capital Lahore also opened the pools for revamping hospitals. Due to poor arrangements, rainwater entered the emergency of Mayo and Services Hospital. General Hospital and Services Hospital were also submerged, and water entered various wards.
