Frankfurt: Germany has banned the Islamic Center Hamburg (IZH). It is an organization that German intelligence officials believe is controlled by Iran and Hezbollah. How big is the network of this center in Germany?
The ban was imposed on the Islamic Center Hamburg in Germany on Wednesday. The ban has affected the center as well as five other organizations affiliated to it. German police officers searched the Imam Ali mosque in Hamburg early this morning, as well as buildings linked to the IZH in eight other German states.
Dozens of police officers were seen surrounding the Imam Ali Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque, in Hamburg this morning. This Shia mosque, run by the IZH, is located on the banks of the Alster Lake in the northern German city of Hamburg. According to a reporter of the news agency DPA, this morning in the Temple Hof area of Berlin, several police officers raided the building of a Shia organization.
Germany’s internal intelligence service has declared the IZH an extremist organization. According to a statement from the German Interior Ministry, the IZH aggressively and militarily spread the ideology of the Iranian “revolutionary leader” and the so-called “Islamic Revolution” in Germany.
