London: 3,000 incidents of violence against women and girls are being recorded every day in England and Wales.
According to the French news agency AFP, the police have warned in a report that it is a “national emergency”.
The study, compiled by two law enforcement agencies, found that at least one in 12 women are victims of violence each year, while the true number is expected to be much higher. .

Referring to the report, Senior Police Chief Maggie Blyth said that violence against women and girls is a national emergency.
According to the study, in 2023-2022, more than 1 million incidents of violence against women and girls were recorded by the police.
The report also states that incidents of violence against women and girls have increased by 37 percent between 2018-2019 and last year, with the police dealing with the most incidents of domestic violence.
According to this study, one in 20 or 2.3 million people in England and Wales are found to be involved in a crime of violence against women and girls each year.
“These are conservative estimates and we know that policing does not report many crimes, we only see a few incidents,” the police chief added.
He warned that incidents of violence against women have increased like an epidemic in these two countries.
“The government must step in to reform the outdated criminal justice system,” says Maggie Blythe.

The report also states that between 2013 and 2022, there has been a 435% increase in the number of cases of sexual abuse and exploitation of children, from 20,000 to 1,700,000.
The report notes that younger offenders are now committing crimes, with the average age of a suspect now being 15 years.
The UK Home Office declared violence against women and girls a national threat to public safety in February last year.
Over 4,500 new police officers were trained to investigate rape and serious sex crimes last year.
According to the study, a 38 percent increase in adult abuse allegations was recorded during the year from December 2022 to December 2023.
