According to climatologists at the University of Maryland, USA, by 2080, the intensity of heat will increase significantly in the cities of Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Multan, and Pindi.

American meteorologists have predicted concerning Karachi that there is a possibility of a 0.4% increase in rainfall in Karachi in the next 60 years. Similarly, summers will be 3.3 degrees Celsius hotter and 18.2 percent drier.

Winter in Karachi will also be 5 degrees warmer. By 2080, Karachi’s weather will be similar to Al-Baha’s in Saudi Arabia.

However, this forecast also states that if emissions of climate change factors are reduced, Karachi’s temperature will increase by only 1.1 degrees, rainfall will increase by 17.3 percent, and winter will decrease by 1.7 degrees and 2.9 percent of rainfall. is expected.

Experts say that in the case of less emissions of climate change factors, Karachi’s weather in 2080 may be similar to that of the Yemeni city of Mukalla today.

Experts also say that if the government controls the environment, the temperature can decrease by one to two degrees.
