Washington: The United States has expressed concern over the government’s decision to ban Tehreek-e-Insaaf.
US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller expressed concern while responding to a question regarding the ‘possible ban on PTI’ during a press briefing.
Matthew Miller said that having seen the government’s statements on banning the political party, it seems that this is the beginning of a complicated political process, but the US will monitor the internal process and decisions.
Matthew Miller added that the ban on any political party is a cause for concern as the move is against human rights, freedom of expression, constitutional and peaceful observance of democratic principles.
The State Department spokesman said that the United States has always supported the democratic process and broader principles and measures of justice, including the rule of law.
