Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist and social worker Sanam Javed has been discharged by the court from the FIA case.
In a local court in Islamabad on Sunday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sought further remand from Sanam Javed to get her X (formerly Twitter) account.
When Sanam Javed was released from Gujranwala Jail yesterday, the FIA team re-arrested her under a new FIR.
The FIA claimed that “Sanam Javed has been arrested for investigation in the offense of incitement and inflammatory statements against the army and institutions.”
On Sunday, Sanam Javed’s lawyer Ali Ashfaq Advocate argued in the court and said that “before May 9 in Pakistan, such women were dragged into cases.”
He said that no plaintiff has yet been able to prove anything against Sanam Javed. When the court acquitted him in one case, the police arrested him in the second FIR of the same police station.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor of FIA argued that Sanam Javed used to upload all the content on Twitter, so we have to recover that account.
During the hearing, Sanam Javed’s lawyer read out her X (Twitter) posts, and Judge Malik Imran asked the FIA prosecutor, “What do you have to say about it?”
On this, the FIA prosecutor said that in this case, we can take a minimum remand of 14 days and a maximum of 30 days.
The FIA alleged that Sanam Javed used the Twitter account to send messages against the institutions.
Sanam Javed’s lawyer Babar Awan said that she is a woman and a mother, fear God. If they (the FIA) file an FIR without giving notice, it is wrong.
After that, the FIA requested the remand of Sanam Javed for six days, on which the court reserved the decision and discharged Sanam Javed from the case while pronouncing the judgment on Sunday.
