WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden is under increasing pressure to withdraw from the presidential election by Friday, but he is not ready to drop out of a race where the ball is in Nancy Pelosi’s court.
The ruling Democratic Party is in a dilemma over Joe Biden’s poor performance in the presidential election debate with former President Donald Trump.
Democratic leaders and voters were wary of their presidential candidate, Joe Biden’s forgetfulness and old age, and unsatisfactory performance in the presidential debates.
The majority of Democrats want everyone from Obama to members of Congress to plead with Biden to drop out of the presidential race by Friday, but Biden has so far refused.
Dozens of members and senators are set to write letters calling for Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race. That may happen Sunday afternoon when House Democratic Leader Jeff Reese will hold a Zoom session with top committee members.
After which the ball is now in the court of Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Joe Biden got encouraging news in some polls on Saturday, though. Polls by Bloomberg and Morning Consult have Joe Biden now ahead of Donald Trump in Michigan and Wisconsin.
However, Joe Biden is still trailing in the must-win state of Pennsylvania, which he will campaign for on Sunday.
