Communal harmony and brotherhood is the need, Commissioner Sahiwal Division

Sahiwal: Communal harmony and brotherhood are the need. It is the religious responsibility of all Muslims to contribute to peace, tolerance, and brotherhood during Muharram. This was said in a joint meeting of the Divisional Peace Committee and Inter-Religious Harmony Committee held at the Commissioner’s Office. The meeting was chaired by Commissioner Sahiwal Division Shoaib Iqbal Syed while RPO Mehboob Rasheed, Additional Commissioner Coordination Shafiq Ahmed Dogar, Deputy Commissioners Saima Ali, Captain (retd) Farrukh Atiq, Sadia Mehr, and DPO Sahiwal Faisal Shahzad were also present in the meeting. The scholars appreciated the measures taken across the division to protect the Majlis and Zul-Jinah processions during Muharram. The Christian leaders expressed concern over the cases of blasphemy law being used for personal gain and appealed to set up a fool-proof mechanism to prevent such incidents so that no victim is abused and those in the minorities. Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal Syed said that no society or country can develop without peace, so it is important that every individual should continue to work hard to establish peace and end hatred to give a better Pakistan to the next generation. RPO Mehboob Rasheed said that foolproof arrangements have been completed for the security of all Majlis and Zul Jinnah processions held across the division during Muharram. He said that 1749 Majlis will be held across the division and 461 Zul Jinnah processions will be held.
