London/Mumbai: The Indian Cricket Board has announced the retention of Rohit Sharma as the captain for the Champions Trophy 2025 and the final of the World Test Championship.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian cricket team in the ICC Champions Trophy and World Test Championship finals next year.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has released a video statement in which Jay Shah has said that after the disappointing defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup (by Australia), they won the T20 World Cup brilliantly. He continued to encourage Rohit Sharma till the end.
Jay Shah said that he has confidence in his team that under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, they will win the Champions Trophy and also the World Test Championship title.
It should be noted that after becoming the world champion in T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from short-format cricket, so now only Rohit Sharma will remain the captain in ODI and Test, while the team in T20 Hardik Pandya is being named to the helm.
It should be noted that the Champions Trophy event will be held in Pakistan next year. In this event, India is scheduled to compete with Pakistan in Karachi, but the Indian board has not yet given the green signal to its team for this competition.
