Tehran: The reformist candidate Masoud Al-Badzikian won 1.63 million votes in the second phase of the presidential election, while his opponent, the reactionary Saeed Jalili, got 1.35 million votes.
Iran’s Ministry of Interior announced the success of Masoud Megheshkian and said that 69-year-old Masoud Megheshkian has been elected as the President of Iran with the highest number of votes. Masoud Al-Badzikian has been a heart surgeon and a member of parliament. Masoud Al-Medeshkian has been the Minister of Health and Medical Education, 5-time Member of Parliament and 1-time Vice President.
In the first phase of Iran’s presidential election, none of the 4 candidates could get more than 50 percent of the vote. In the first phase of voting on June 28, the turnout was 40 percent, the lowest since 1979. The death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash in May led to early presidential elections in Iran.
