JUI’s tribal jirga rejects Operation Zazam Satwat

PESHAWAR: The ‘Grand Tribal Jirga’ organized by Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) in Peshawar has demanded the opening of borders with Afghanistan in the tribal districts, opposing Operation Resolute Stability.
The Jirga led by JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman was attended by advisors from tribal districts.
At the end of the Jirga, in a unanimous resolution, opposing the operation determination in the tribal districts, the state was demanded to fulfill its constitutional and legal responsibility and establish peace in the tribal areas.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the operation ‘Azam istehkam’ for counter-militancy in the meeting of the Apex Committee of the National Action Plan this week.
