LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has summoned the IG Punjab over the non-recovery of PTI leader Shehbaz Gul’s brother.
Justice Amjad Rafiq of Lahore High Court heard the request for the recovery of Shahbaz Gul’s brother Ghulam Shabbir. While rejecting the police report, the court summoned the Advocate General Punjab and the IG Punjab yesterday and said that if necessary, the Punjab Chief Minister will also be summoned.
The petitioner took the stand that Shahbaz Gul’s brother Ghulam Shabbir was detained by the police on his way to Islamabad. Despite the court order, the hostage was not recovered and produced.
Justice Amjad Rafiq expressed his indignation for not presenting the hostage and said to submit a more detailed report to the hostage tomorrow. If necessary, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will also be summoned. Enforced disappearances are against fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution. The Punjab government should give its policy statement in this regard. What is the way to get bail from the cases, and then pick it up?
