Peshawar: An officer of PESCO was involved in corruption worth crores of rupees, and was arrested by FIA.
FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Peshawar, in a major operation, arrested the SDO of Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation, who was involved in corruption worth crores of rupees.
According to an FIA spokesman, the accused Waseem Ahmed was posted as SDO in Nowshera. During the deployment, the accused assisted the owner of a soap factory named Usmanzada in Nowshera in electricity theft and received a bribe of crores of rupees for the electricity theft.
The theft of electricity with the help of the accused caused a total loss of Rs 1 crore 20 lakh to the national exchequer.
FIA has started raids to arrest other accused.
