Islamabad High Court’s order to remove Zartaj Gul’s name from ECL

ISLAMABAD: The High Court has ordered the removal of the name of Sunni Ittehad Council parliamentary leader Zartaj Gul from the ECL.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard the request to remove Zartaj Gul’s name from ECL. The court ordered the Assistant Attorney General to remove the name from the ECL and submit a report within a week.

Assistant Attorney General and Zartaj Gul appeared in Islamabad High Court. The record of the FIR was presented according to which the name of Zartaj Gul was mentioned in two FIRs.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri remarked that you do not put the names of terrorists, the members of the assembly are coming to the court, I will call the IG and ask if a political leader takes out a rally, then you put the name in ECL, There is no case of gangs or terrorists, one person is a member of the National Assembly and they put the name in ECL, someone is asking who recommends the name to be included in ECL, they are also afraid.

The court inquired who was in which cases. Lawyer Osama Tariq Advocate said that the answer was submitted in case numbers 567 and 340, today there was a miscellaneous application in Urgent. The court asked whether there are only two cases, both of which are on bail. The lawyer said that Ji is on bail in both cases.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri remarked that no cases of kidnapping for ransom, or gang rapists have come up, all the members of the assembly are coming, there are minor charges, all are bailable and the names are put in the ECL, names are being taken out now. But in the future, those who approve will also be called.

The court adjourned the hearing by directing the Assistant Attorney General to remove the name from the ECL and submit a report within a week.
