In the ninth match of the T20 World Cup Super Eight stage, England defeated America by 10 wickets and made it to the semi-finals.
The 49th match of the tournament on Sunday was played at the Kensington Oval Stadium in Bridgetown, Barbados.
At the start of the match, England won the toss and invited America to bat first. Team USA collapsed in 18.5 overs and set England a target of 116 runs.
Nitish Kumar was the highlight for the USA with 30 runs, while Corey Anderson scored 29, Harmeet Singh 21, Steven Taylor 12, and captain Aaron Jones scored 10 runs.
England bowler Chris Jordan took 4 wickets in 5 balls while scoring a hat-trick. Sam Curran and Adil Rasheed took 2,2 while Liam Livingstone and Rhys Tapley took 1,1 wickets.
It should be noted that Chris Jordan is the first England bowler to score a hat-trick in a T20 World Cup.
England’s team achieved the target of 116 runs in 9.4 overs without losing any wickets.
England opener Jos Buttler scored 86 off 38 balls while Phil Salt scored 25 runs off 21 balls and remained unbeaten till the end of the innings.
United States and England, included in Group Two, have played 3 matches so far in the Super Eight, in which England has won 2 matches while the United States has lost in all three matches.
According to the points table, currently, England is leading with four points and a better net run rate, South Africa is second with four points, West Indies is third and the USA is fourth with zero points.
With the win against the USA, England has entered the semi-final while the other semi-finalist team will be decided after the match between South Africa and West Indies tomorrow.
