Sahiwal: Three more children died in the children’s ward of Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. The number of those killed has become 9. On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, a committee headed by Commissioner Sahiwal has been formed which will investigate the matter and submit a report to the Chief Minister. No substantial progress could be made regarding the deaths of children. Secretary Health or any higher officials could not reach the spot. According to the hospital administration, the children died not from burns but from smoke and because they were immature and sick. On June 8, at 8:30 in the morning, due to a short circuit in the AC, a fire broke out in the nursery ward and there was smoke in the entire nursery ward. had spread and the children were taken out of the male ward by the hospital administration and the family members. The family members say that such a big incident happened in the hospital. When this incident happened in the ward, the in-charge of the ward was not present in the hospital at that time. This matter should also be investigated. On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal called an emergency meeting in which safety measures were reviewed in hospitals across the district. Despite the passing of the incident, no relevant minister or secretary of health arrived at the spot, and even two investigative teams of the incident could not determine the culprits. The ward was painted and made functional and all the premises were cleaned as if no incident had taken place in the ward.
