Sahiwal: An important achievement of Sahiwal Teaching Hospital Sahiwal, 6 deserving blind patients were restored to sight in Ophthalmology Unit 2. These patients were restored to sight through corneal transplants. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan told the UK’s largest circulating and newspaper of the year award-winning Nawa-i-Waqt London, the English newspaper Dawn and Dawn TV that the Department of Ophthalmology is officially approved by the Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority for cornea transplant and deserves the same. This facility is provided free to the patients which is usually an operation costing 10 to 12 lakh rupees. Dr. Mohammad Rizwan especially thanked Dr. Naila Rafiq and Dr. Fawad who are based abroad for their efforts and support. He said that so far a total of 20 patients have benefited from this facility. He also thanked Dr. Umar Ajmal, Dr. Mohammad Shahid, and Dr. Humira, Head of the Anesthesia Department, for assisting in the operation. He said that anyone who is blind should get registered in the Suspect Ophthalmology Department of Sahiwal Teaching Hospital.
