The report said that every day more countries are expressing concern about the quality of Indian spices, putting the reputation of Indian spices at stake.
India is the world’s largest producer, consumer, and exporter of spices. In 2022-23, India exported about Rs 32,000 crore worth of spices including chili, cumin, spice oil oleoresin, turmeric, curry powder, and Cardamom is the major spice exported.
According to GTRI, half of India’s exports of 700 million dollars are at risk.
