Quetta: The report of a secret agency of Pakistan has revealed that the smuggling of Iranian oil in the country, which was halved as a result of the crackdown during the caretaker government, has again increased by 67%.
According to the report, 89 lakh liters of Iranian oil is being smuggled to Pakistan daily through six land and sea routes of five districts of Balochistan, of which 70% is being used in the remaining three major provinces of the country.
According to the obtained documents, a 44-page report was prepared by the Civil Intelligence Department on April 4, in which 105 big smugglers, including many current members of the Balochistan Assembly, former provincial ministers, and politicians, were involved in the smuggling of Iranian oil. 100 corrupt provincial officials and 533 illegal and unlicensed petrol pumps involved in selling Iranian oil have been identified.
According to sources, this is the third report prepared by this secret agency on smuggling. A report in September last year also identified 29 politicians, 90 government officials, and 995 pumps in the Iranian oil business.
It was also revealed that Pakistan State Oil (PSO) vehicles are also used in smuggling Iranian oil. The report was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office, following which a large-scale crackdown was launched during the caretaker government.
