ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the appointment of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday, it was said that the Cabinet Division has issued a notification in this regard.
Ishaq Dar is currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia along with the Prime Minister.
Ishaq Dar is one of the important leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-N. In the past, he has been assigned the responsibility of finance minister in PML-N governments. However, this time Muhammad Aurangzeb was made the finance minister in his place.
Ishaq Dar has been given the charge of Foreign Minister in the present era at a time when the country is facing economic, diplomatic, and security challenges.
He is a close relative of Jamaat leader Nawaz Sharif and has been the finance minister of the country four times.
Ishaq Dar became the Federal Finance Minister for the first time in 1998 during the Nawaz League era. In 2013, he became the finance minister once again in the Nawaz League government.
