London: House prices in London will reach the sky. A 1,600 sq ft duplex in London’s Kensington has been put up for sale on the property market for £200,000 (around Rs.70 crore).
By contrast, just £150,000 can buy a three-bedroom house in Birwan Furness, Cumbria.
The owner of the property, a retired lord, bought the terrace in 2012 for £96,000. They have not done any construction on the terraces and now they have decided to sell it. Flats on Gloucester Road sold for an average of £862,000 over the past five years, with the last house selling for £2.925 million.
The figures show that rents in London have risen by around 12.1% compared to last year, now averaging £2,627 a month. This is above the England average and the highest annual rate since records began in London in January 2006, according to the Office for National Statistics.
